PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC APPROACHES

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on the relationships between our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. The therapeutic work involves understanding what happens in difficult situations: what we say to ourselves internally, what we feel, and how we act. It helps us better understand these mechanisms and gradually experiment new ways of thinking, feeling and acting. Particular attention is given to emotions: learning to recognize them, accepting them and regulating them more effectively is an important part of the process.

CBT offers practical tools that are goal-oriented and tailored to each person’s individual resources and needs. These therapies are often used to address anxiety, depression, insomnia, phobias, trauma and relational difficulties.

Schema Therapy

Schema therapy focuses on our deep-seated patterns of functioning, which often develop early in life. From our childhood and adolescent experiences, we develop schemas. These are ways of seeing the world, others, and ourselves. We also develop coping strategies, which manifest in our behaviors and relationships.

While these schemas and strategies were often adaptive at some point, they can become limiting in adulthood. Some people, for example, have difficulty trusting others or tend to prioritize the needs of others over their own. Schema therapy helps us understand the origins of these patterns, transform them, and develop more flexible and freer ways of thinking and acting.

The work combines reflection, emotional exploration and new experiences within the safe framework of therapy.

Lifespan Integration Therapy (LI)

Lifespan Integration is a therapeutic approach designed to help integrate past experiences and strengthen our sense of internal stability. At times, certain events remain “stuck” in our emotional memory and continue to influence how we feel in the present. Lifespan Integration involves gradually revisiting different periods of life in order to help the brain place these experiences within a coherent sense of time, and help the body release the emotional burden attached to them. This method places a strong emphasis on the body, acknowledging that trauma isn’t just processed cognitively but also held at a somatic level.

This approach is particularly used in work with trauma, relational wounds and attachment-related difficulties.

ABOUT

My name is Fiona and I am a Psychologist and Psychotherapist licensed in France. I offer consultations in Paris (15th arrondissement) and online.

My approach is recovery-oriented, meaning that its primary goal is to support you in building a life that is meaningful to you, defined according to your own values and priorities, even in the face of challenges. I know that beginning therapy can be difficult, and I am very dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can express yourself freely. Together, we will define the goals of our therapeutic work, and we will progress at your own pace.

I also work from a trauma-informed perspective, which recognizes that the reactions developed in response to certain experiences are legitimate responses to intolerable situations. The therapeutic framework is designed to be predictable, stable, and respectful of your need for safety and control. It is also an open and inclusive space, attentive to individual differences, where each person can feel recognized in their identity and lived experience. Individual experiences are always situated within broader social contexts, and I am particularly attentive to the impact of systems on individuals experiences.

In terms of therapeutic methods, my approach is evidence-based, meaning I am trained in therapeutic modalities that have been scientifically validated. These modalities provide a rigorous framework, but not a one-size-fits-all solution, and are always tailored to the person’s unique traits and circumstances. During therapy, I will guide you in exploring the underlying mechanisms of your difficulties and help you develop concrete strategies to address them. This allows for work that is both meaningful and relevant to daily life.

My aim is that what we explore doesn’t remain confined to our sessions, but supports real and sustainable change in your life !

Before turning to clinical psychology, I pursued an academic background in cognitive sciences. I studied for a BA in Philosophy at the University of Cambridge and a MSc in Cognitive Science at the University of Edinburgh, followed by a PhD in Ethics and Information Science. This background informs my clinical thinking, my broader interest in understanding the human mind, and my dedication to helping others.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Fiona
